About the Program

Stir-n-Up Hope offers Equine Assisted Activities for individuals with any type of disability and Equine Assisted Learning focusing on relationship and life skills. Lessons are offered in 8 week sessions starting this 2018 season in May. A dedicated team works hard to provide quality sessions to our riders. All instructors are experienced equestrians and trained by PATH Intl.  (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International).

During the Equine Assisted Activities, the gentle movement of a supervised ride on a horse develops muscle tone, control, and balance. Horseback riding gently and rhythmically moves their bodies in a manner similar to normal human walking. The relationship a rider develops with a horse builds confidence, self-esteem, motivation, patience and the realization between cause and effect. Finally, the love the rider experiences from the horse, encourages the rider to not only trust the horse but rely on it so they can accomplish the rider’s goals together.
During Equine Assisted Learning, the rider learns how to have a healthy relationship with a horse that is comparable to those needed between human individuals. This relationship between horse and rider teaches trust, respect, caring behaviors, awareness, accountability, safety and other life skills to help the individual be confident in public settings.
